Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Compensation, the Senior Compensation Consultant is an expert compensation professional enabling Total Rewards, HR, and enterprise strategies by providing analytical expertise, advice and solutions to clients, and managing projects and workstreams to design and deliver Sun Life compensation programs.

What will you do?

  • Provide expert compensation advice to HR Business Partners and business leaders, aligning with client group goals and organizational strategies

  • Analyze market competitiveness of compensation and incentive programs and conduct complex research to inform program enhancements and decision-making

  • Manage medium to large compensation-related projects, developing and implementing effective solutions

  • Lead compensation support for assigned groups during annual performance/compensation cycle and market reviews, partnering closely with HR Business Partners

  • Provide guidance on complex compensation issues, considering business needs, best practices, and organizational values while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations

  • Conduct job evaluations at multiple levels and degrees of complexity

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in compensation practices and contribute to skills development within the HR community

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of compensation design, practices, and industry trends

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Economics, or related field, with 6-8 years of compensation-related experience

  • Strong knowledge of compensation practices, theory, and program design, including plan modeling and implementation. Experience in sales incentive design is an asset

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with ability to manipulate large data sets and perform complex financial modeling

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational abilities to handle complex multi-task assignments

  • Strong relationship management and consulting skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms

  • Proficiency in market data analysis, quantitative analysis, and survey techniques

  • Bias for continuous improvement and leveraging technology and data to improve outcomes

  • Demonstrated initiative and capability to resolve complex situations

  • Progress toward or completion of CCP or CHRP designation preferred

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
