Registered Nurse (RN) Surgery - OR General

A caregiver in this position works Evenings, from 11:00am—11:30pm.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.  

  • Perform scrub and circulating functions.  

  • Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.  

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). 

  • One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program.  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within six months of hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
