Dow has an opportunity as P&SP Senior Sustainability Manager for Mexico and Andean Region will need to deeply understand the inner working of the plastics circular economy in the region and define how Dow can participate, accelerate and profit from it. Structure and implement impactful projects with that purpose, and support initiatives with key stakeholders that will help create waste and recycling infrastructure as well as necessary regulatory framework to develop the material ecosystems in these sub-regions of Latin America, aligned with the P&SP and corporate sustainability goals of Transform the Waste, Close the Loop and Protect the Climate.
Drive regional sustainability strategy in Mexico and Andean region of Latin America, build and create pipeline to deliver C&RS roadmap and ambition goals, responsible for implementation and results in partnership and close collaboration with several roles including the marketing team, sales, business communications, Government Affairs and TS&D, among others. Owns key external relationships with partners to achieve Dow's objectives and to stablish C&RS local supply, defend and grow volume and value of P&SP in Mexico and Andean Region.
Senior Business Sustainability Manager will focus on designing Mechanical Recycling strategy, but mostly ensure its deployment, accountable for its implementation and impact. Collaborate with 2030 C&RS Roadmap development and execution. She/he will also support initiatives that drive advocacy towards the right use and disposal of plastics. And as part of the Protect the Climate platform, she/he will understand and define alternatives to offer low carbon solutions to industries that we serve.
The person will also serve as LAA P&SP regional SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Partnerships and will coordinate regional strategy, communication and governance with critical partners such as AEPW, BanQu, Manuia, Circulate Capital, Latitud R, Delterra and others.
Responsibilities / Duties:
Map and understand the circular economy value chain and sustainability landscape for the region/country. Identify main players, key positions to control and unmet needs.
Build a strategy for the regions that will allow Dow to turn circular economy into a business and that clearly describes the business model we will use.
Develop, implement and execute sub-regional sustainability strategy that align with the business plan and global/regional sustainability strategy
Drive the completion of projects to Transform the Waste, Close the Loop, Protect the Climate and Safer Materials
Work closely with commercial, technical and marketing team to develop and implement new solutions and business models
Manage and implement a regional project pipeline that targets four areas: (1) PCR product supply, (2) Create a material ecosystem, (3) build influence, reputation and advocacy, and (4) Work with agencies and government affairs to stablish a regulatory framework that promotes sustainable solutions (5) Develop low carbon solutions
Represent Dow at key industry associations and build an agenda with key external stakeholders.
Serve as a focal point of the Business in trade associations and influence industry peers to align with Dow’s priorities to grow the plastics industry
Collaborate with Geo and PA/GA team to influence government policy and communication strategy to protect bottom line and help broaden acceptance and implementation of sustainability projects.
Lead the relationship, investment plan for short-long term goals, certifications and governance with specific suppliers and internal stakeholders to establish strategic and fully complaint relation with specific local suppliers (Omnigreen, IDRG, ENKA, Polyrec and others). Lead off-take agreements or other business models agreements with specific local suppliers
Tactical and strategic role for short to medium/longer term initiatives to stablish C&RS local supply, defend and grow volume and value of P&SP in Mexico and Andean Region.
Required Qualifications:
Fluent in Spanish and English.
Passion for sustainability, expertise in ESG desired
A minimum of 8 years of business, commercial or customer relationship experience, 10 is preferred.
Collaboration at local, regional, and global level. Proficient in team working and leading by influence
Manage diverse stakeholders and audiences with different needs to expertise and requirements
Strategic mindset and analytical skills. Capable of structuring complex business models with high level of ambiguity and uncertainty
Credibility and Business Acumen. Good breadth of knowledge of market dynamics, economic environment, technical, and organizational aspects of business.
Commercial or technical experience within areas related to sustainability and/or plastics.
Strong project management competency and discipline
Internal and external stakeholder’s management. Some examples could be associations, government, multifunctional teams, NGOs, waste and recycling players, etc.
Good presentation and public speaking skills.
