Position Summary

Position performs routine and/or special assays on blood and body fluids. There is an opportunity available for a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the laboratory of Dr. Soumya Mukherjee, which investigates the causes, future diagnosis and treatments of Alzheimer’s disease utilizing a wide variety of assays and techniques from basic applications, such as quantitative measurement of stable-isotope labeled peptides using mass spectrometry and clinical translational studies in diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease. Duties in this role include sample preparation, data acquisition and mass spectrometry-based analysis for any projects run by or in collaboration with the Mukherjee Lab/SILQ Center.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine assays according to laboratory standard operating procedures, including instrument maintenance and minor troubleshooting; may perform special assays with supervision by a senior medical technologist or supervisor.

  • Recognizes problem situations and participates in problem solving; informs supervisor of unusual situations and requests technical assistance.

  • May assist with validation of new assays; compiles data for supervisory review; utilizes database, spreadsheet and word processing programs.

  • Complies with all regulatory and client requirements for testing and documentation.

  • Demonstrates a general understanding of assay methods and clinical relevance; participates in relevant continuing education.

  • Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed.

Salary Range

$19.21 - $28.85 / Hourly
