As a Distinguished Member of Engineering at Micron Technology, Inc., you will participate in architecting high-performance controller firmware for innovative non-volatile storage systems. In this position, you will collaborate with ASIC and NAND teams to provide Best in Class solutions for the Enterprise and Cloud marketplace. Particular attention will be paid to meeting challenging performance, QoS and reliability requirements while enabling product to be delivered on schedule. 

In this role you will work closely with system, ASIC, hardware, and other firmware architects to define, design and help lead implementation of the firmware stack for new ranges of Micron developed SSD products. These will be designed to be optimized with the latest high efficiency NAND flash and other future solid-state memory with particular emphasis on the Enterprise and Cloud marketplace in terms of power, reliability, cost, performance and QoS.

This is a key role in advancing our overall business with wide ranging impact across our organization and company and requires a minimum 15 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

Solve system level technical challenges through architected solutions.

Validate customer requirements and derive architecture to meet or exceed requirements.

Develop new tools and methods to test and verify architectural decisions.

Follow and improve architecture and design processes/procedures and work flows, create high quality documentation to enable development teams.

Model and firmware coding, modeling/simulation results analysis, failure analysis, ASIC/FPGA based bring up/debug, documentation.

Analysis of functional or performance issues in firmware and hardware in test environments or target host systems.

Successful candidate for this position will have:

15+ years experience in embedded firmware architecture and development.

Experience in the storage industry, with emphasis on SSDs and NAND flash.

Experience in design for high performance, QoS architectures with controlled latency environments.

Strong working knowledge of firmware development, verification, system failure analysis, embedded systems design and real time embedded systems.

Strong problem solving and debug skills, including the ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems.

Understanding of storage interfaces, in particular PCIe and NVMe, and debug using protocol analyzer.

Knowledge of current state of the art for firmware development, profiling tools and real-world applications.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively (written and verbal) across multiple locations and teams.

Working knowledge and experience on ARC/ARM Microprocessors and multi-core SoCs.

Understanding of Server architecture, virtualization technologies and knowledge of emerging datacenter trends like CXL.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$205,000.00 - $360,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.  The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.  The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
