Position Overview:
The Sales Engineer is responsible for pre-sales technical support, solution design, and post-sale enablement across the Western U.S. region. As a trusted advisor to our integrator partners, distributors, A&E’s and end user customers, you will help drive technical success in the field and play a key role in achieving regional revenue goals.
This is a remote-based role with regular travel (25–40%) within the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with Regional Sales Directors and Regional Sales Mangers to support pre- and post-sales activities including solution design, product demos, and technical presentations.
Conduct virtual and in-person training for security integrators, consultants, and end users.
Design and review access control system architectures, wiring diagrams, and network requirements.
Serve as a technical resource during proof-of-concept installations and complex deployments.
Engage with and support A&E’s to drive PDK being specified on large projets – especially projects in the multi-housing, academic and health care vertical markets.
Assist with RFP responses, BOM creation, and system quotations.
Provide feedback to Product and Engineering Departments to support continued platform innovation.
Provide feedback to Technical Support Department to support continued increase in vale to our dealer Partners.
Provide technical sales assistance, including system demonstrations and presentations to resellers and end users.
Attend trade shows, roadshows, and partner events as a technical representative.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in a Sales Engineer, Field Engineer, or Technical Sales role within the access control, physical security, or network infrastructure industries.
Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies, IP networks, and low-voltage hardware systems.
Familiarity with access control protocols (e.g., Wiegand, OSDP), PoE devices, and mobile credentialing.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage a large geographic territory remotely.
Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), drawing software (e.g., Visio, AutoCAD), and video conferencing tools.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Prior experience creating written responses to functional and technical requirements for Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP).
Prior experience delivering pre-sales, technical training content, and product demonstrations to resellers and end-users.
Prior experience creating a bill of material (BOM).
Demonstrate self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.
Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
Willingness to travel regularly across the 13-state territory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with SaaS-based security platforms.
Certifications such as CCNA, PSP, or manufacturer-specific credentials (e.g., ProdataKey, Lenel, Genetec, Openpath, Brivo, etc.)
Located near a major metro area in the Western U.S. (e.g., Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Seattle)
