The Opportunity
DAT is looking for a Salesforce Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II) to join our Enterprise Solutions team. This position will work hybrid in our Denver, CO office or our Beaverton, OR office; If based in Seattle, you can be fully remote based.
Candidate profile
As a Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II), you will be an integral part of our Business Applications (BusApps) Team, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test solutions to validate the functionality, performance, and security of DAT’s business applications (i.e. Salesforce). In this role, you will collaborate with developers, administrators, and business analysts using software / tools to test development work and verify that it is reliable, scalable, and sustainable. The team will work on multiple applications, the core products being Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ, and Billing. This role requires a strong understanding of advanced Salesforce functionality, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience implementing software automated testing best practices.
Key Measures For Success
- Leads the effort to plan effective automated and manual test strategy, and document using team-approved tools and formats.
- Continuously increasing testing efficiency
- Ensure test cases are effective at identifying defects.
- Ensure automated testing is built and used whenever possible.
- Ensure testing dependencies are well-documented for developers.
- Implement and continuously improve regression testing strategy, to have a test effectiveness percentage of 100%, meaning that all defects were found before going live.
- Ensuring test coverage is ≥ 75% on existing classes and ≥ 85% on newly introduced classes.
- Properly document test cases and outcomes for auditing purposes.
- Identify and monitor defects in the code or configuration that impact the functionality/quality of the application(s).
- Serve as a knowledgeable ambassador to team members, sharing knowledge and answering questions.
What You’ll Do
- Test Automation: Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using industry-standard testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Apex, Lightning Web Components, Cypress, etc.) to ensure the quality of Salesforce applications.
- Test Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define comprehensive test strategies, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing, for Salesforce applications.
- Test Planning: Create test plans, test cases, and test data in accordance with project requirements, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
- Defect Identification: Investigate, document, and track software defects, working closely with developers to ensure timely resolution.
- Continuous Integration: Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to support the development team's efforts to deliver high-quality software with speed and efficiency.
- Work with the team’s engineers to incorporate and maintain automated testing in the team’s CI/CD process.
- Work with the team’s engineers to ensure all required automated testing is performed via the CI/CD process.
- Performance Testing: Design and execute performance and load testing scenarios to identify bottlenecks and optimize the performance of Salesforce applications.
- Security Testing: Collaborate with security teams to perform vulnerability assessments and ensure the security of Salesforce applications.
- Requirements Verification: confirm that products meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
- Reporting: Generate and maintain test reports and provide clear communication on the status of testing efforts to stakeholders.
- Documentation: Document test processes, procedures, and results to ensure traceability and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Subject Matter Expert: Understand and advocate Agile QA best practices and software / Salesforce best practices.
Required Skills and Experience You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of hands-on manual and automation testing experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ, and Billing or 4+ years of hands-on manual and automation testing experience outside of Salesforce leveraging software testing methodologies, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
- 2+ years of proven experience as a Salesforce Administrator, Developer, or in a similar role with a deep understanding of Salesforce capabilities and best practices.
- Proficiency in Salesforce technologies, including Apex, Lightning Components, and Visualforce.
- Proficiency in test automation frameworks and scripting languages used within them (e.g., Java, Javascript, Python, SF CLI).
- Development experience in the following programming languages: Apex, Javascript, and Typescript is a plus
- Experience with building out test automation, specifically with Cypress or Selenium.
- Experience with test management tools (e.g., TestRails, Zephyr) in designing test cases, organizing test suites, executing test runs, and tracking test results is a plus.
- Experience with CI/CD, pipelines, and DevOps; specific experience with GitHub Actions is a plus.
- Familiarity with REST/SOAP API testing using tools like Postman, Newman, or similar.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge and experience with JIRA for user stories and project workflow.
- Experience with agile methodologies and application lifecycle development.
- Ability to monitor and track defects through team-approved tools.
- Ability to direct and track test activities of other team members.
- Excellent organization, problem-solving, multitasking, and analytical skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Required Education/Certifications
- Testing automation certification(s), such as Certified Selenium Engineer, CAST (Certified Associate in SW Testing), Certified Software Test Automation Specialist (IIST), or Certified Agile Tester (CAT) is strongly preferred.
- Salesforce certification(s), such as Salesforce Certified Administrator, Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator, Salesforce Platform App Builder, Salesforce Platform Developer I, or CPQ Specialist are required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

For Colorado-based candidates, in compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $94,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience.
