The Role

Join AspenTech’s Digital Grid Management team and help shape the future of energy solutions! In this role, you’ll develop custom software applications, collaborate on innovative designs, and ensure high-quality code that meets customer needs.

Your Impact

  • Implement software solutions for customer-specific needs with guidance. Most often this will be a program to interface with another system, or a program which provides a feature not available in our standard software packages.

  • Assess and understand complex design documents describing the proposed solution to meet customer requirements.

  • Develop applicatons and interfaces according to design documents with support from lead Applications Engineers.

  • Participate in code reviews, following the instructions, to ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality.

  • Contribute to design efforts by attending design workshops, writing portions of design documents, preparing diagrams, and other tasks under the supervision of the lead Applications Engineer.

    What You'll Need

    Required expeirence:

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.

    • 0-2 years relevant work experience or relevant personal projects.

    • Basic computer programming skills; C and/or Python preferred. Knowledge of basic data types, common algorithms, and program structure.

    • Strong analytical, independent problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.

    • Ability and flexibility to travel to domestic and international customer sites.

    • Ability to work independently, effectively manage time, and prioritize strategically.

    • Ability to travel up to 20% to domestic and international customer sites.

    Preferred experience:

    • General knowledge of electric power generation, transmission, and distribution.

    • Basic understanding of client/server applications, Extract/Transform/Load interfaces

    • Experience programming with or knowledge of: APIs (REST, SOAP), communication protocols, web services, message queuing and delivery systems (Kafka, AMQP, MQTT, etc), and/or databases (SQL, NoSQL).

    • Familiarity with version control software, such as Git.
