The Food & Beverage Manager will be responsible for effective management of venue concessions operations including event planning support, food preparation, inventory, cash control, compliance with food and alcohol policies, cleaning, safety, guest services, employee/volunteer training and supervision, point-of service systems, and any other tasks assigned by the General Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs storage, preparation, and serving of refreshments and food at concession stands or carts in hallway.
  • Set up duties include, but are not limited to, verifying opening inventory, assigning duties to concession workers, (employee/volunteer), ensuring sanitation standards are met, verifying each location is fully operational, ascertaining levels of food production based upon projected guest attendance has been met and willing to cover any open position as necessary.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by contacting the event organizer prior to events to tailor offerings to meet their needs (setup, menu, etc.).
  • Develop promotional ideas and create new plans to upsell items based on events.
  • Develops menus/themes for a variety of events and establishes prices.
  • Innovate and plan new ideas for suites, suite menus, and suite bar.  
  • Research new ideas for food and beverage products, promotions, packaging, and advertising in conjunction with the Marketing Manager.
  • Maintains inventory control by completing end of month inventory, supervising stand counts/reporting, reconciling with POS system, utilizing sales projection data from previous events to maintain correct inventory levels, and contact distributors to return product if necessary.
  • Assists with the analysis of previous sales and sales projections, patron attendance, and labor costs to prepare budgets/cost control for ordering items for events.
  • Improve food and beverage processes to look for cost efficiencies in ordering and staffing.
  • Inspects food service facilities to ensure equipment and buildings meet requirements of state and local health laws and internal regulations.
  • Train staff to have a customer-focused mindset and be team oriented.
  • Organizes, prepares and schedules concessions/catering for events on and offsite.
  • Coordinates purchasing/stocking vending machines at all sites in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities           

Directly supervises all employees in catering, concessions, and bar services. Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of each employee and department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global’s policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include:

  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Assigns concessions workers to locations and provides schedules to management in a timely manner.
  • Planning, assigning, training, and directing work with employees/non-profit organization volunteer groups.
  • Appraising performance, rewarding employees, addressing complaints, resolving problems, and disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources.       

Education and/or Experience   

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university preferred.
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in management level of related experience and/or training.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale systems required.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Positive customer service-oriented attitude at all times.
  • Demonstrated ability to control costs, generate increased revenue, and manage accounts payable/receivable and financial reporting in conjunction with the Finance department.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Attention to detail and organization a must.
  • Ability to train workers in preparation and cooking of foods to ensure high quality, efficient, and profitable food service.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in work environment, manage competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  • Must be able to pass a background/credit check.
  • Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays based on the event schedule.
