School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. The EEE Rapid-Rich Object SEarch (ROSE) Lab focuses on research in:  (i) visual search & retrieval, (ii) video analytics & deep learning, and (iii) multimedia forensics & biometrics.  Resources at the ROSE Lab consist of NTU faculty, researchers, PhD students, and visiting researchers from other institutions from around the world, as well as large-scale GPU computing facilities for deep learning. 

We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer to manage the EEE GPU Cluster. The role will focus on leading the EEE GPU Cluster team and in charge of communication, procurement, user management, and software/hardware maintenance. The goal of the role is to ensure the EEE GPU Cluster is reliable, secure, efficient, and well-utilized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • GPU cluster architecture and design

  • Stakeholder management (communication)

  • User lifecycle management (communication and coding)

  • Procurement (expertise in hardware specs and communication)

  • Cybersecurity knowledge to stay compliant with CITS requirements. (coding)

  • Regular system updates and patching (coding and system-level understanding)

  • Major maintenance (good coding background and ability to take over the existing codebase)

  • Managing the emails and registration portal

Job Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience deploying and maintaining HPC clusters.

  • Proficient in coding (Python, C/C++, Lua) with a focus on clean, efficient code.

  • Strong skills in Linux administration, automation, and networking (TCP/IP, HTTP).

  • Experience with distributed storage and computing (Ceph, Lustre, Open MPI, NVLink).

  • Familiarity with Proxmox VE, Slurm, and user management (LDAP/FreeIPA) is a plus.

  • Capable of leading a small team (3–4 people) and presenting technical updates to management.

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with researchers and stakeholders.

  • Available for on-call support to handle system emergencies.
