GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:   

The Manager, Data Analytics, on the Data Analytics & Reporting Center of Excellence team, leads enterprise-wide data analytics and reporting activities. The role leads a team of Data Analyst and BI Developers that partner with individual business units to define business needs, gather requirements and build streamlined solutions following best practices and standards. They lead the team responsible for proactively identifying, recommending, and developing streamlined analytics strategies, systems and processes that enable the business to quickly extract insights from their data.

*This position is based out of West Des Moines, IA and will need to work an on-site hybrid schedule**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Leads a diverse team of employees with responsibility for managing the employee life cycle and experience, including but not limited to, selection and retention of talent, continuous feedback and performance management, reward and recognition, corrective action and employee development.
  • Works within a Center of Excellence (COE) model for supporting business enablement of accurate and timely reporting and data analytics.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in statistical analysis across variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to complex data mining and statistical or predictive modeling.
  • Leads complex data related analytical projects that drive business decisions and efficiencies.
  • Researches, analyzes, validates and documents business requirements for integrating business data sources into the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Creates and maintains processes, documentation, and requirements for productionizing reports.
  • Elicits requirements and translates them into user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Works within the Data Management team to identify and onboard new sources of data.
  • Designs and develops highly dynamic reports, dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Proactively improves the quality of company reporting.
  • Ensures adherence to data management and data governance policies and standards.
  • Performs the above duties with minimal supervision of direct manager or other members of the team.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to other Data Analytics Analysts.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, business analytics, computer science, MIS, information technology or related field of study; plus six (6) plus years of progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 

Experience working with data reporting and BI tools such as Tableau and PowerBI preferred. 

Leadership experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   

  • Strong analytical skills and research capabilities.
  • Strong experience in SQL, and Python or other programming languages (Python preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience streamlining and automating manual data processes.
  • Demonstrated experience compiling data from disparate sources.
  • Demonstrated experience building dynamic and interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools like Tableau and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build strong relationships across the Business.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present findings to key stakeholders
  • Mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MicroSoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical/operational procedures.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
