The Financial Institutions and Public Sector Head for Iberia, is a senior management- Director level position responsible for accomplishing results, aiming to provide clients with seamless coverage across the full suite of Citi Products (across Banking, Markets and Services) as well as strategic advisory and corporate finance services in coordination with the Banking, Services and Markets teams, including to raise funds in the capital markets. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of advisory, financing and broader banking and markets services to our public and private clients, as well as manage the Portfolio from a risk, capital, control and governance perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand regional and local market trends to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment
  • Responsible for overall parent relationship management of clients and providing a wide range of treasury and corporate finance solutions, including cash management, trade, vendor finance, FX, general credit, loans, debt capital markets, share repurchase, and interest rate and equity derivatives
  • Drive client planning, product agnostic cross selling, client access, and effective capital allocation within the Banking & International Coverage Banker proposition
  • Translate Citi’s strategy into an effective and efficient Corporate Bank business plan and drive a healthy balance between near-term and long-term priorities
  • Responsible for meeting revenue goals and other goals related to budget, risk management, and credit allocation in partnership with Global Capital Management (GCM) and Risk; Manage and optimise capital and RWA across all aspects of the client relationships 
  • Drive innovation and speed to market and promote cross selling of products across the full Bank’s platform
  • Partner with Investment banking team to drive and execute episodic transactions and with key stakeholders, including Risk and GCM, to allocate capital prudently, appropriately and in adherence to all Citi risk policies
  • Ensure client relationships and proposed client solutions meet or exceed internal risk and return standards, including stringent ethical standards and anticipated future changes in the marketplace
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Extensive client interaction at senior level and/or relevant product experience
  • Full knowledge of entire suite of products and possess a corporate finance mindset.
  • Proven track record of deal origination and structuring
  • Consistently deliver on revenue and budget targets.
  • Strong credit skills and experience, particularly for FIs and sovereign credits

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in people management
  • Senior Credit Officer preferred; Path to Senior Credit Officer title is a requirement
  • In-depth experience advising clients on debt and capital management
  • Demonstrated ability to balance between internal management and external client time
  • Demonstrated understanding of compliance issues and regulatory requirements (global and local)
  • Proven leadership skills and intellectual capability to create momentum and a collective agenda across multiple products with a diverse population and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated intellectual grasp of the industry and ability to anticipate and lead the organizational response to future changes and translate vision into executable plans
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's/MBA degree preferred from a top economics, business, or financial engineering program

This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015.
