About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Zillow Home Loans Platform team, you will play a pivotal role, working closely with product managers and stakeholders. You will be instrumental in crafting a comprehensive and compelling customer experience. This is an excellent opportunity for you to join a fun, creative, and challenging environment.

  • Collaborate with various ZHL teams to achieve shared goals, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Identify system challenges and opportunities, propose innovative solutions, and drive their execution.
  • Lead evolutionary design and architecture by evolving system boundaries and integrations.
  • Apply patterns that support effective platform development, especially for high throughput and low latency requirements.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality and operability to sustain velocity as the system scales.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $186,300.00 - $297,700.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • 7+ years of software development experience with high proficiency in Java, GO, or other object-oriented languages.
  • Proficient in iterative software development, design, and architecture.
  • Passionate about engineering and distributed systems.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to excel in dynamic environments with minimal direction.
  • Strong advocate for education, training, coaching, and mentoring to foster team development.
  • Collaborative working style.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL is a bonus!
  • Experience in the Mortgage industry and familiarity with the tools and applications used is a bonus!
