AIG’s underwriters develop insurance solutions that address the exposures of companies and individuals, and embody AIG’s tradition of innovation, bringing to market groundbreaking insurance solutions for our changing world. AIG’s underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients and High Net Worth individuals.

About the role

What you need to know:

Description:

  • Responsible for underwriting all Casualty lines of business within delegated authority.

  • Operate within Casualty best practices and underwriting guidelines.

  • Help Casualty team to achieve budget and profitability goals by implementing an effective underwriting process.

  •  Responsible for maintaining risk selection in adherence with product guidelines as well as achieving rate, renewal retention and new business goals.

  • Maintain accurate files and adhere to all standards and service level agreements for premium processing, policy issuance and file maintenance. 

  • Collaborate with Distributions, Branch Managers and other line(s) of Profit Centre to target desirable accounts and/or cross selling opportunities from producers.

  • Develop a strong, long term relationships with producers to profitably grow the book of business.

  • Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with producers.

  • Attend client/broker/agency functions when required

  • Participate in projects/initiatives as needed.

What we’re looking for:

Requirements:

  • Proven underwriting experience in Casualty Products including Environmental.

  • A team player with a positive attitude, an innovative mindset, flexible, problem-solving and results oriented.

  • Having knowledge of reinsurance and portfolio management techniques.

  • Demonstrated sales, marketing and relationship building experience.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Risk analysis and technical skills

  • Having experience with underwriting analytical tools and technology.

  • Ability to work within a team, to provide a positive influence to others and to support the team manager as required.
