Position Title: Production Assistant

Position Type: Full Time

Reports to: Production Manager 

Compensation Range: $16.15 - $20.00/hour

About Crystal Bridges & The Momentary:

Crystal Bridges is a museum of American art located in Bentonville, Arkansas. We explore the unfolding story of America by actively collecting, exhibiting, interpreting, and preserving outstanding works that illuminate the American heritage and artistic possibilities. Founded by Alice Walton in 2005, the museum opened in 2011 and is a public, non-profit charitable organization with free admission.

The Momentary is a new contemporary art space that opened to the public on February 22, 2020, in downtown Bentonville, Arkansas. A satellite to Crystal Bridges, the Momentary presents visual, performing, and culinary arts. The mission of the Momentary is to champion contemporary art’s role in everyday life and explore the unfolding story of contemporary American arts in an international context by actively commissioning and exhibiting outstanding works that explore new ideas and inspire action.

Position Summary:

The Production Assistant will provide production support to staff, artists, and clients through the Momentary. The Production Assistant will help facilitate the wide variety of production and administrative needs required to support the many performing arts offerings and events that will take place at the Momentary.

The ideal Production Assistant has experience in music, theatre, dance, and/or client events coordination, a self-motivated desire to expand their knowledge of the field, and a passion for supporting the production of contemporary performing arts and events.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Act as assistant to the Production Manager of the Momentary.
  • Act as a production runner, point of contact, and coordinator for events, performances, and festivals.
  • Perform stage management related tasks for rehearsals and performances.
  • Assist Production Manager and Director of Production with departmental finances, such as credit card expense reporting, invoice processing, and monthly financial reconciliation.
  • Communicate with touring acts, clients, and resident artists about their production needs and schedules in advance of shows and events.
  • Assist with scheduling, calendar upkeep, and other administrative duties.
  • Create and maintain paperwork, reports, and other documentation related to the Production Department, and maintain an archive of all production-related paperwork.
  • Communicate with internal teams about event details related to the Production Department.
  • Support internal teams with their events and performance space usage.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintenance, inventory, and storage of production related equipment and resources.
  • Attend meetings as a representative of the Production Department.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment including basic computer literacy. Microsoft 365 and Teams proficiency highly preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to be a team player throughout the entire organization.
  • Flexibility to work adaptable schedules including days, evenings, and weekends.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience and/or training in a customer service or administrative role.
  • Previous experience in event management or arts administration preferred.

  • Must be in a good level of fitness and be able to perform manual labor related to the occasional installation of Production equipment
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 30 lbs regularly
  • Must be comfortable working from ladders or lifts in elevated positions, both indoors and outdoors
  • This position requires physical stamina to perform duties indoors and outdoors, often in rain, wind, heat, cold, and other conditions
