Schedule: Full Time Days (40 hrs/week)

About Us - Transitional Care Unit (TCU) & Cardiac Medical Unit (CMU)

  • Located on the sixth floor of the Tower at Freeman Hospital West

  • 20-bed ICU step-down unit, which provides care for high acuity patients that require close monitoring

  • Strong focus on the “why” behind patient care 

  • CMU is a multi-faceted floor offering the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills

  • 29-bed, Level II Stroke Center with state-of-the-at equipment and monitoring

What You'll Do

Coordinate with charge nurses to complete patient admissions on the Transitional Care Unit and Cardiac Medical Unit. During the admission process, identifies patients that could potentially need Social Services and makes appropriate consultation. Coordinates with physicians and Social Services to ensure appropriate equipment and services are ready at time of discharge. Coordinates with staff to complete discharges in appropriate time to improve patient turnaround time. Completes CAUTI/CLABSI audits daily. Completes Infection Prevention Patient Care Activity Observation Checklist and IV Smart Pump Audit monthly.

Requirements

1. AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 60 days.

2. CardioVascular Disease CEU hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.

3. Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.

4. If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.

5. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) within 365 days.

6. Stroke CEU Hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
