The Opportunity
Consultant Cardiologist – Pacemaker Service (0.1 EFT)

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Consultant Cardiologist to join our Pacemaker Service at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. Working 0.1 EFT, this position is ideal for a clinician looking to contribute to a high-quality electrophysiology service within a major tertiary and teaching hospital.

Position Title: Cardiologist, Pacemaker Service – 0.1 EFT
Location: St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne

Reports to: Director of Cardiology
Employment Type: Part-Time (0.1 EFT)
St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Cardiologist to join our Cardiology Department in a 0.1 EFT capacity. This role includes dedicated clinical responsibilities alternating weekly between pacemaker implantation and the arrhythmia clinic. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care, procedural expertise, and multidisciplinary collaboration in a tertiary hospital setting.
• Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (3.5 hours/fortnight):
- Perform pacemaker implantations and related electrophysiological procedures.
- Collaborate with cath lab staff to ensure safe and efficient procedural workflow.
- Maintain procedural documentation and contribute to quality assurance initiatives.
• Arrhythmia Clinic (1 session/fortnight):
- Diagnose and manage patients with complex cardiac arrhythmias.
- Provide expert consultation on electrophysiological investigations and treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and patient education.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Cardiology.
• Subspecialty training and experience in device implantation.
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Demonstrated experience in a tertiary hospital setting is desirable.
• High-level clinical expertise in arrhythmia management and pacing therapies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to patient-centred care and clinical excellence.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Participation in departmental meetings, teaching, and quality improvement activities is encouraged.
• The position may involve supervision of junior medical staff and cardiology trainees.
