Why this role is important?

Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Services, the Senior Manager is responsible for supporting the Patient Care Services programs in the Chronic Disease Management portfolio across Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw Drugstore Pharmacies.

The Senior Manager’s role balances strategy and planning with execution and program delivery. In this capacity, the Senior Manager is responsible for the successful execution of strategic programs and growth initiatives within the Chronic Disease Management Portfolio. The role will have significant exposure to cross-functional teams, working collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with business units, including Data Analytics, Professional Affairs, PC Health, Digital Pharmacy, Marketing, and Pharmacy Operations teams, among others

What You'll Do

  • Provide subject matter expertise on current, existing and future Medication Review Scope across the country
  • Work collaboratively with the Pharmacy Services team to drive your portfolio's business results, including developing and managing programs and campaigns. This will involve cross-functional collaboration with marketing, PC Health, digital pharmacy, pharmacy operations and others.
  • Work closely with technology partners and the Pharmacy Services team to identify and develop business requirements documentation and SOPs
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Operations to ensure the implementation and execution of programs   
  • Identify new collaborative partnerships across the organization and with external partners as well as other healthcare providers to foster awareness of pharmacy services and inter-professional collaboration 
  • Oversee enablement of pharmacy scope of practice and reimbursement, ensuring adherence to provincial guidelines and regulations as practice tools, SOPs, training and store communications are developed.   
  • Keep abreast of pharmacy regulatory changes and healthcare trends, ensuring your team maintains documentation of changes for the organization's benefit as primary care subject matter experts. 
  • Keep abreast of pharmacy regulations; stay current on Canadian developments and competitors' landscape related to this portfolio. 
  • Create presentations for senior management project approvals and cross-functional team members, with superior knowledge of MS PowerPoint to convey strategies, project plans and project status updates.
  • Analyze, summarize, and prepare various weekly, monthly, and periodic program results for use by various key stakeholders including senior leadership.
  • Support advocacy for scope and funding expansion through collaboration with Professional and Government Affairs teams, providing input on proposed regulations and developing materials for external stakeholders.  
  • Be able to perform financial analysis and develop business cases to assess opportunities and impact of launched initiatives
  • Collaborate with multi-stakeholder working groups for select initiatives with a project management approach to identify key workstreams and stakeholders, develop work plans, timelines and report on progress. 

What You'll Need: 

This position requires an advanced level of initiative and judgement, the ability to shift readily between dealing with strategic issues and necessary details, and the superior ability to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Education:  University degree in Healthcare or Business field, Pharmacy degree would be an asset
  • Experience:  5-7 years of relevant experience in healthcare program development (consumer or healthcare professional focused) in a corporate or retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, government or healthcare organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills, experienced in establishing relationships at all levels 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop presentations and deliver them to all levels of the organization in an engaging and meaningful way, adjusting to the audience; superior Microsoft PowerPoint skills   
  • The ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to collaborate and develop programs and initiatives and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Business Acumen and Analytical Skills:  strong business, financial and analytics acumen.  Consistently exercises sound judgement, ability to assimilate information from many different sources and develop sound strategic options. 
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint and Microsoft Excel  
  • Innovative thinker:  proactive self-starter and innovative thinker with the ability to identify and propose new ideas to drive portfolio growth
  • Adaptable and Resilient: above-average ability to handle complex and competing priorities, flexible and aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment. An agile and flexible mindset to adapt to changing business priorities.
