The Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) team is focused on providing Zillow an authentication and authorization platform that can scale across one of the largest websites in the US. About the role

You will lead our authentication and authorization mobile strategy, coordinating with product, technical and business teams across the company to align to our vision. Working through your Senior Engineers, you will collaborate with mobile teams across the company to implement, design, and deliver features that are used by millions of users across our suite of mobile applications, including our flagship Zillow Application on both iOS and Android. Our Auth strategy is a pivotal feature of our existing technical strategy, and our partner teams are eager to work with a strong leader who can deliver for them quickly.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $170,900.00 - $273,100.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

You are a development manager with deep technical knowledge on mobile authentication, authorization and security standards who is able to lead and negotiate with partner teams across Zillow Group to incrementally deliver on our new authentication and authorization strategy. You have strong management experience, deep technical knowledge in iOS and Android, and a proven history in working across teams to drive change.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in management or tech leadership role

  • 5+ years of mobile software development experience as an individual contributor or team lead

  • Understanding of prevailing industry authentication and authorization practices. In particular a strong understanding of OAuth and iOS/Android best practices around authentication.

  • Strong Experience partnering with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders

  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and growing high-performing engineering teams

  • At least five years of full-time experience and high proficiency programming in Kotlin, Swift, Java, ObjectiveC.

  • Experience with Typescript, GraphQL, and/or React a plus.

  • Experience building libraries, sdks, and shared components for consumption by other teams.

  • Ability to create a mobile authentication and authorization strategy in partnership with our principal engineers and product team, and to then negotiate and incrementally deliver it with mobile teams across Zillow Group.

  • Ability to set clear team and individual goals.

  • Strong testing, logging and measurement practices.

  • Deliver high-quality products on time

  • Implement the best engineering practices to improve effectiveness and efficiency

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with a preference for Computer Science degree
