The role:

  • Emotional and Social Support: Assist students in overcoming emotional and social challenges.
  • Provide a safe space for children to express their feelings and concerns, helping them develop coping strategies and improve their self-esteem.
  • Work closely with parents and caregivers, offering guidance on parenting skills and addressing family issues that may affect a child's education. This includes helping families navigate external services and resources.
  • Potential to conduct one-on-one and group sessions with students to address specific needs, such as behavioral issues or academic challenges.
  • Potential to facilitate workshops for parents to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with school staff to implement support plans tailored to individual students to ensure that the needs of students are met effectively within the school environment.
  • Help families with practical matters, such as completing paperwork for housing or benefits, and may provide resources for food and other essentials, especially in cases of financial hardship.
