The Logistics Specialist is responsible for executing shipments, reporting transportation metrics, remediating issues pertaining to safety, on-time delivery, as well as transportation damage and Transportation damage insurance claims, and ultimately ensuring that internal and external customers’ needs are fulfilled within accordance of company and industry policies.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and monitors domestic shipments with compliance to company and industry standards
  • Ensures appropriate carrier and service level are selected based on company objectives for delivery and cost
  • Maintains shipping records, including providing tracking or shipping history information to customers on request
  • Manages invoices pertaining to transportation and packaging expenses
  • Pro-actively addresses performance defects to ensure successful operations
  • Identifies and supports initiatives conducive to greater efficiency and cost savings
  • Cross-functionally collaborates with internal key stakeholders to support continual improvement
  • Management of transportation damage claims with follow through to resolution with insurance and carriers

Qualifications:

  • Proficient knowledge of logistics terminology and operations, including various modes of transportation and the considerations for pricing and routing
  • Understanding of FDA, IATA, and DOT regulations pertinent to transportation
  • Comprehension of supply chain processes and lean manufacturing concepts
  • Involvement in identifying and resolving complex issues
  • Experience in recording, maintaining, and reporting accurate data

Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally read, write, and speak in English
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
  • Adept communication and analytical skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to successfully resolve problems with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prior experience within manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain management
  • Proven ability to prioritize various initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced changing environment
