Job Description

The Shop Floor Support Specialist serves as a vital link between engineering and production, ensuring that daily manufacturing activities run smoothly and efficiently. By maintaining a strong presence on the shop floor, the specialist proactively identifies issues, supports real‑time problem resolution, and ensures that production teams have the information and resources they need to stay on schedule. Their work helps maintain operational flow, reduce delays, and uphold quality standards across all active orders.

Beyond immediate issue resolution, the Shop Floor Support Specialist contributes to long‑term improvement by documenting lessons learned, identifying recurring trends, and supporting the development of practical solutions. They create CAD drawings for guards, covers, and brackets as needed, verify proper shipping pallet arrangements, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen processes and reduce future disruptions. Their work not only supports current production demands but also enhances the organization’s overall operational resilience and technical alignment.

  • Functional
    • Attend daily production meetings to review order progress and address open issues.
    • Create and distribute a weekly report summarizing detected problems and trends.
    • Maintain a log of lessons learned to prevent recurrence of issues and drive process improvements.
    • Conduct daily shop floor walks to identify and resolve issues in real time.
    • Collaborate with the electrical test team during customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
    • Review all documents released by Engineering during handover for completeness and accuracy.
    • Liaise with the lead engineer to share outstanding matters, suggest solutions, and provide support as needed.
    • Act as the primary point of contact between non-local engineers and production technicians, facilitating communication and expediting issue resolution.
    • Develop CAD drawings for guards, covers, and brackets in accordance with project specifications.
    • Ensure all redline changes are communicated back to the Lead Hardware Engineer.
    • Verify that proper shipping pallets are arranged or ordered for outgoing products.
  • Leadership
    • Be the mediator between the lead engineer and manufacturing, as well as communicate any project issues to the project managers.
  • Interpersonal
    • Create the Engineering Change Notices, mitigating issues that will be performed in the hardware equipment used on the project.
    • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to satisfy project requirements.
    • Work with Engineering and Assembly/Test activities within the facility and remotely.
    • Supports an environment conducive to successful team interaction.
    • Must be commercially aware of the impact to the business performing the technician function to the benefit of the company and customers.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Have:

  • 2 year or Associates Degree in Engineering/Technology discipline.
  • 3D CAD knowledge: Creo, Solidworks, etc.
  • 2+ years' experience in control systems engineering related to variable speed drives and industrial automation systems.
  • 2+ years' experience in electrical design, with emphasis in schematics and panel layout generation.
  • Ability to design utilizing ACAD electrical.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime in order to meet customer project commitments.
  • Expected to support group projects going through manufacturing.
  • Must be able to work in a project driven environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
  • Previous experience in a Manufacturing environment
