Join us as a FinOps Analyst in Payments Technology

This is an opportunity to act as a key contributor in a business that processes one in every four payments in the UK and £65 trillion per annum for our personal, business and commercial customers

  • You’ll partner closely with Cloud Engineering, Platforms, Technology Finance, and operational teams to drive cost transparency, optimisation, automation, and financial accountability across our cloud and onpremise infrastructure estate.
  • You’ll be central to shaping how we understand, manage, and optimise our technology spend, developing insight that supports smart engineering decisions and ensures every pound of cloud and infrastructure cost is wellgoverned and aligned to business outcomes.
  • This role would suit someone with experience in cloud billing, financial analysis, cost optimisation, data reporting or early‑stage FinOps work who wants to deepen their cloud expertise.

What you'll do

As an Infrastructure / FinOps Analyst, you’ll provide clear, accurate and actionable insight into cloud and infrastructure costs across AWS and onpremise platforms. Youll help maintain financial governance, support monthly cost reporting cycles, and partner with engineering teams to identify and implement cost‑optimisation opportunities.

In addition, we’ll look to you to leverage GenAI and other tooling to Identify cost-saving opportunities such as rightsizing, purchasing strategies such as Reserved Instances and Savings Plans, and architectural improvements. You’ll develop and maintain real-time self-service cloud cost reporting, dashboards, and forecasts using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, ServiceNow, and third-party FinOps platforms such as Apptio Cloudability, Spot.io.
 

Your role will involve:

  • Monitoring and analysing cloud and onpremise spend, identifying trends, anomalies, risks, and optimisation opportunities
  • Partnering with engineering / Platform teams to translate cost insights into actionable optimization strategies
  • Ensuring alignment to internal cost governance, financial controls, and monthly reporting cadence.
  • Supporting cost allocation across teams through accurate tagging, ownership mapping, and showback processes to improve cost allocation accuracy
  • Automating recurring reporting, compliance checks, and optimisation workflows to improve consistency and speed using tools such as Power BI, AWS/Azure native cost tools, Apptio Cloudability and ServiceNow

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a very capable communicator with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to colleagues, including management level. You’ll need a solid background working FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud financial analysis.

We’ll also look to you to demonstrate:

  • At least 4+ year in an analytics role covering cloud spend, cloud operations reporting, or financial reporting
  • Hands-on exposure to AWS or Azure cost management tools
  • Ability to work with data querying tools or languages
  • Intermediate Excel skills; able to build and maintain recurring reports
  • Experience producing dashboards or management reporting using Power BI, Tableau, or similar
