Description: Join our Data & AI practice as a Semantic Modeler Lead, where you will define and lead the development of the enterprise semantic layer that enables consistent meaning, interoperability, and intelligence across data products and platforms. You will work closely with business SMEs, architects, data engineers, and AI teams to design business ontologies, semantic models, and knowledge graphs that accurately reflect organizational concepts and power advanced analytics and AI use cases. This role requires strong expertise in ontology design, semantic technologies, and knowledge graph modelling, as well as the ability to guide a team of modelers and drive alignment across domains. You will play a critical part in shaping how the organization defines, connects, and leverages knowledge to deliver scalable, reusable, and insight-driven data products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition, design, and governance of enterprise business ontologies, ensuring consistent meaning, terminology, and relationships across domains and data products.
  • Design and oversee semantic models and knowledge graphs, including ontology structures, taxonomies, canonical models, and graph schemas using RDF/OWL, SHACL, SPARQL, and property graph patterns.
  • Establish and maintain semantic modelling standards (naming conventions, versioning, curation workflows, semantic mappings) and drive adoption across teams.
  • Collaborate with architects, data engineers, SMEs, and AI/ML teams to integrate semantic models into enterprise data products, metadata layers, and graph platforms.
  • Adapt and apply industry-standard ontologies (FIBO, BIAN, GS1, TM Forum) to ensure semantic interoperability and alignment across the organisation.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to modellers, reviewing semantic models, resolving cross-domain conceptual conflicts, and uplifting modelling capability.

Key Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or related field
  • Prior experience with business ontology and knowledge graph
  • Business ontology definition & design, with ability to translate complex business concepts, rules, and relationships into enterprise ontologies that drive consistency and interoperability.
  • Designing data products aligned to business ontologies, ensuring semantic integrity across conceptual, logical, physical models, metadata layers, and downstream data products.
  • Knowledge graph design & build experience, including RDF/OWL, SHACL, SPARQL, and property graph modelling using platforms such as Neo4j or Amazon Neptune.
  • Awareness of industry-standard ontologies (e.g., FIBO, BIAN, GS1, TM Forum) and ability to adapt reference models to organisation-specific needs.
  • Proficiency with semantic technologies & tools such as Protégé, graph databases, metadata/knowledge catalogues, and semantic reasoning/inference frameworks.
  • Strong cross-domain functional knowledge, with the ability to abstract business requirements into reusable semantic patterns and canonical models.
  • Experience integrating semantic models into enterprise architectures, including data lakehouse, data mesh, metadata-driven pipelines, and AI/ML knowledge enrichment.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of aligning business SMEs, architects, and engineers on shared definitions and resolving semantic inconsistencies.
