As a Managing Security Consultant, you thrive on solving problems and collaborating with your team to deliver innovative security solutions to our enterprise customers. In this role, you ultimately contribute to Telstra Purple's market share, by providing security consulting services and solutions to our Enterprise customers. Your continuous learning and improvement mindset and collaboration skills are critical to success in this role, as you continue to deepen your expertise in the security consulting domain and build credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.

What you'll do


As a Managing Security Consultant, you leverage your knowledge and experience in delivering Security Consulting services to deliver the following responsibilities:

  • Support the identification of potential business development opportunities, collaborating with your team to help qualify, develop, and close new opportunities.
  • Represent Telstra in key initiatives and cultivate relationships with relevant security business partners, system integrators and service providers.
  • Focus primarily on targeting and developing new business opportunities.
  • Apply a diverse range of information security concepts, principles, frameworks, standards, and methodologies to achieve client business objectives through information security.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of technology consulting engagements; supporting with solution designs, implementation plans and costing estimations.
  • Leverage strong written and verbal communication skills to document and present customer-facing information to a high standard.
  • Apply a continuous learning and development mindset to your work, investing time and effort into building your knowledge, skills and understanding of industry best-practice and emerging technologies.
  •  Conduct research and generate insights to help translate customer needs into leading-edge security consulting solutions.
  • Leverage standard methodologies, tools and processes to test and evaluate solutions, both during and post implementation.
  • Take ownership of your own actions and accountabilities, seeking guidance from more experienced team members to support your development and contribute to the delivery of agreed outcomes.
  • Proactively identify and seek to mitigate risks and issues to security service delivery, escalating to more senior team members when additional support is required to resolve problems.
  • Leverage sound inter-personal skills to build relationships and credibility with key internal (i.e., Sales, Delivery and Project teams) and external (i.e., customers, technology vendors) stakeholders.


What you'll bring

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in IT Security, with at least 3 years focused on Network Security and Cybersecurity.
  • Understanding of risk management and information security frameworks, like ISO 27001, NIST, ITIL, PCI DSS.
  • Experience in the IT security field with certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, CEH, GCIH, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in conducting gap assessments, data privacy compliance evaluations, and audits.
  • Strong expertise in Network Security Infrastructure, SSE, SASE, SIEM, SOAR, EDR, MDR and XDR; and Cloud Security is advantageous.
  • Excellent presentation skills with a proven track record of client interactions both in-person and virtually
