UX Design Managing Director

Leads the strategic vision, direction, and execution of user experience design across the organization. Oversees the creation of intuitive, engaging, and user‑centered digital experiences by translating user needs into functional and aesthetically compelling interfaces. Guides the UX function in shaping long‑term design strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, brand standards, and customer expectations. Partners closely with executive leadership to influence product direction and champion a culture of design excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and drive UX vision and strategy to elevate user experience across digital products and platforms.
  • Lead and mentor UX leaders and multidisciplinary teams, fostering a high‑performing, collaborative design culture.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end design processes, ensuring user insights, research, and testing inform design decisions.
  • Partner with executive and cross‑functional leaders in Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Business Operations to shape product direction and prioritize UX initiatives.
  • Champion user‑centered design principles, promoting accessibility, inclusivity, and design consistency across all digital touchpoints.
  • Establish design standards, frameworks, and governance models to ensure scalable and high‑quality experiences.
  • Evaluate and optimize UX operations, including tools, processes, resourcing, and workflow efficiency.
  • Communicate design strategy and rationale to senior stakeholders, influencing outcomes on matters critical to the organization.
  • Oversee complex, enterprise‑level design initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing forward modern design approaches that enhance competitive advantage.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience leading UX, Product Design, or Digital Design functions within complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated success shaping and executing long‑term design strategy across multiple product lines or business areas.
  • Deep expertise in user‑centered design, interaction design, visual design, and usability principles.
  • Strong leadership background overseeing large teams, including managers, directors, and multidisciplinary design professionals.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment on strategic design decisions.
  • Experience integrating research, data, and analytics into the design process.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Experience working in agile or hybrid product development environments.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $145,000 - $217,500

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
