The Senior Analyst – Strategic Competitiveness is a critical role within Nissan’s Strategy & Transformation Office, focused on ensuring the Regional Shared Services Center maintains a competitive edge in an evolving global landscape. This position is ideal for a high-energy Industrial Engineer with a passion for analyzing market dynamics, benchmarking best practices, and developing strategic insights to drive cost optimization and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving competitiveness by collaborating across departments, engaging with industry associations, and conducting in-depth benchmarking studies. You’ll act as a key liaison with external partners such as ACESCO, while working closely with internal teams like Compensation, Government Affairs, and Tax. This position demands strong analytical skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Industry Analysis & Strategic Benchmarking:

  • Competitiveness Studies: Conduct comprehensive market and industry analysis to assess Nissan’s competitiveness in shared service operations, focusing on cost structures, salary benchmarks, and benefits across Mexico and LATAM.
  • Benchmarking Best Practices: Design and lead benchmarking studies that compare Nissan’s shared service operations to industry leaders, identifying opportunities for improvement in salary structures, benefits packages, and operational efficiency.
  • Operational Cost Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize fixed and variable costs through in-depth analysis of facility and operational expenses, driving sustainable cost reduction initiatives.

Strategic Partnerships & Industry Collaboration:

  • Liaison with ACESCO & Industry Associations: Act as the primary representative for Nissan SSC in key industry associations such as ACESCO, gathering valuable insights on shared service best practices and ensuring Nissan is positioned as a leader in the industry.
  • Coordinate Benchmarking Visits: Organize and lead benchmarking visits with other global shared service centers, capturing insights and applying them to enhance Nissan’s operational efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Compensation, Government Affairs, and Tax, to integrate insights from benchmarking studies into broader strategic initiatives and cost competitiveness efforts.

Data-Driven Strategic Insights:

  • Reporting & Leadership Presentations: Prepare detailed reports and executive-level presentations that provide actionable insights from benchmarking studies, market analysis, and operational reviews. Present findings to senior leadership, guiding strategic decision-making.
  • Storytelling with Data: Use data visualization tools and storytelling techniques to create clear, compelling narratives that communicate benchmarking outcomes and competitiveness strategies to senior stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Build and maintain a repository of best practices and competitive intelligence to drive continuous improvement within the Shared Services Center. Facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure ongoing alignment with industry standards.

Industry Engagement & Event Leadership:

  • Event & Workshop Coordination: Represent Nissan SSC at key industry events (e.g., ACESCO, SSON), building a network of industry contacts and ensuring Nissan remains engaged with the latest developments in shared services best practices.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Internal Workshops: Organize internal benchmarking workshops and presentations to share key learnings and drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the SSC community.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Strong preference for Industrial Engineering, though degrees in Chemical Engineering or other related technical fields will be considered.
  • Project Management or Agile Certification: Training in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) or project management certifications is highly desirable.

Previous Work Experience and Key Skills:

  • 1-2 years of experience in industry analysis, benchmarking, business development, or project management, preferably within a Global Business Services (GBS) or Shared Services environment.
  • Experience collaborating with external partners, industry associations, and senior leadership to drive benchmarking and competitive initiatives.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple complex projects, delivering high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Analytical Excellence & Strategic Thinking: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to process and structure complex data into strategic insights that drive decision-making.
  • Industry Benchmarking Expertise: Hands-on experience in conducting benchmarking studies, particularly in salary, benefits, and operational efficiency within shared services or GBS environments.
  • Proactive & Results-Oriented: A self-starter with a proactive attitude, capable of driving initiatives forward, identifying opportunities, and overcoming challenges independently.
  • High-Impact Communication & Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills, able to engage senior leaders and external partners with clear, impactful messaging. Experience presenting data-driven insights to C-suite executives is a plus.
  • Storytelling & Data Visualization: Skilled in crafting compelling narratives around data and insights, with a strong command of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to present clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, build strong relationships with external partners, and foster collaboration to drive competitiveness.
  • Agile & Adaptable: Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment, with experience using Agile methodologies to drive iterative improvements in processes and operations.

Language: Fluency in English required; Portuguese is a plus.

Travel %: Less than 10%

Computer Skills:  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Monday.com, MS Project) and analytics basic knowledge.

  • Internal Stakeholders: SSC Americas Director, Senior Leadership Team, Compensations & Benefits Team, Government Affairs, Tax Teams and Communications Team.
  • External Stakeholders: ACESCO, SSON, industry partners, external service providers, and shared services associations.
