What you will do

The Manufacturing Engineer is accountable for applying sound economic methods to equipment and space utilization to meet design and quality criteria with the lowest expense and consistent with the facilities financial and non-financial objectives. This person will be responsible for all components of the manufacturing engineering function in the support of production.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to

How

  • Serves as a manufacturing resource on new product development teams and major expansion and equipment replacement programs.
  • Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots YORK manufacturing support software. 
  • Plans, justifies, and implements facility changes to support new technology and process improvements.
  • Initiates and implements cost reduction improvement programs.
  • Provides technical assistance to the plant including Materials, Quality Control, Engineering, and Safety.
  • Participates in the establishment of long and short-term operating plans.
  • Establishes and justifies capital budgets and expenses for manufacturing operations.
  • Ensures common standards between East York plant and other manufacturing facilities.

Required

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

This position requires a Bachelors Degree in Engineering along with at least two (2) years of progressive, hands on manufacturing engineering experience.  A minimum of one (1) year HVAC experience is preferred. The position also requires knowledge of formal problem solving methods along with experience with financial controls and product costing.  Previous experience with new product and process introductions along with a working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and procedures is also required. 

  • COMPUTER SKILLS

The position requires a demonstrated proficiency in sheet metal nesting programs, AutoCAD, MAPICS and Access.  A working knowledge of Word and Excel is required. 

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Manufacturing Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
