ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. The following duties and responsibilities are to be performed accurately, efficiently, within Company safety and Quality System standards, within specified time frames and as needed.
- This role will serve primarily in support of coatings and wastewater treatment processes.
- Role follows the 5-8 hour schedule with working hours that fall within the range of 3:00am – 2:00pm but can vary depending on the needs of the business.
- Plans and performs all required operations to set up and operate equipment.
- Utilizes basic chemistry, plumbing, mechanical, and math principles to determine and maintain chemistry, pH levels, amperages, and material ordering.
- Removes, inspects, and cleans filters, pumps, hoses, valves, air spargers, anodes, anode rails, tanks, vessels, etc.
- Works off PM schedules and TrueChem documents to ensure lines are maintained to correct schedule and communicates any exceptions.
- Provides cross-functional support of other finishing lines, waste treatment, maintenance, and production operations.
- Supports coatings processes including E-coat, Powder Coat, Zinc, Chromium, Nickel, Copper, 10B, and Anodizing.
- Enters and maintains quality data via computerized systems (TrueChem, etc.)
- Keeps work areas and equipment clean and orderly and reports any equipment or material problems to Laboratory Manager, Engineering, or Production Team Leader which cannot be resolved by operators.
- Well-developed reading skills including ability to comprehend technical manuals, detailed work instructions, and machine operating instructions.
- Follows KanBan principles regarding material flow.
- Follows all OSHA and RCRA regulations for handling chemicals and operating finishing processes and material movement equipment in activities including, but not limited to, chemical adds, filter changes, tank draining and tank clean outs.
- Long duration PMs may potentially require occasional weekend work.

Coatings
- This position is responsible for the support of all finishing processes (Plating, E-Coat, Powder Coat, etc.) and the general/preventative maintenance of finishing equipment.
- Ability to perform job-related tasks/duties, according to job standards.
- Ability to operate all necessary equipment and/or machinery to perform job-related task(s).
- Ability to properly setup all necessary equipment and/or machinery to
perform job-related task(s).
- Ability to understand and perform work that is compliant to safety guidelines that relate to job responsibilities or any activity performed on the site including safety assessment for area of assignment including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, confined space entry, RCRA, etc.
- Ability to perform quality inspections and participate in problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
- Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of material flow tools.
- Able to understand visual standards and nonconforming material system.
- Ability to properly use material handling equipment such as forklifts, carts, and pallet jacks.
- Can perform job tasks within required timeframe and can manage .
- Ability to utilize a range of hand tools and machines including wrenches, sockets, electric tools, pumps and accessories during routine maintenance and repair.
- Ability to perform job tasks according to Allegion safety and quality system/ISO 9001 standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot assigned process and equipment and provide problem solving assistance including collection of data and defect analysis.
- Can implement and maintain 5S on line assigned including painting, cleaning, labeling and audits.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical:
- Able to wear and maintain necessary PPE including gloves, safety glasses/goggles, face shields, chemical aprons, coveralls, steel toed boots, chemical resistant boots
- Able to stand for duration of the work day.
- Capable of pinching/gripping/lifting up to 10 pounds repetitively and up to 20 pounds frequently.
- Ability to hand grip up to 40 pounds repetitively and up to 80 pounds frequently.
- Can occasionally lift up to 55 lbs from floor to waist or, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to above your head.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds from floor to waist and waist to head.
- Ability to frequently push and/or pull up to 15 lbs and periodically greater than 15 lbs.
- Ability to repetitively use fingers and hands to feel, handle, or squeeze.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms and perform frequent repetitive motions.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, and/or sit.
- Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- Ability to judge distances, spatial relationships, and perform visual and/or mechanical inspections.
- Ability to operate industrial powered equipment within manufacturer’s height and weight requirements and guidelines for operators.
- Ability to use close vision and depth perception.
Mechanical:
- Regularly exposed to moving and rotating mechanical parts and elevated surfaces.
- Ability to perform material handling, racking activities, and preventative maintanence of equipment.
- Ability to perform material, tooling, and fixture handling activities.
Environmental:
- Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration.
- Exposed to hazardous chemicals including: corrosives, reactives, and toxic.
- Exposure at or below PEL limits or otherwise protected by personal protective equipment.
- Exposed to high voltage equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Qualifications: 12 months experience in plating, e-coat, chemical analysis, or powder coat in a manufacturing operation.
- Preferred Qualifications: Technical Training/Education in Machine Operation.
