DESCRIPTION:
As an Assoc. Manager IT at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll guide a team providing essential technical support while contributing to our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You'll oversee daily operations, support team members, and ensure excellent service delivery across our infrastructure. This role combines technical leadership with people management responsibilities, requiring both strategic thinking and practical problem-solving skills. You'll collaborate with IT managers to drive continuous improvement, address critical situations, and implement effective solutions that enhance our technical capabilities and customer experience. Your work will directly impact our ability to serve customers across healthcare, environmental protection, and food safety sectors.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience supporting IT services infrastructure in large environments
• Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• ITIL certification preferred
• Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification valued
• Strong understanding of client/server networks, protocols, Internet services, and Active Directory
• Expertise in PC/laptop configuration, imaging, and troubleshooting
• Proficiency in managing IT asset lifecycle and infrastructure maintenance
• Knowledge of IDF/MDF operations and data center health monitoring
• 1-3 years supervisory experience leading technical teams
• Demonstrated ability to conduct performance reviews and develop staff
• Experience managing both FTEs and contingent workers
• Strong project coordination and task delegation capabilities
• Ability to manage initiatives impacting 50-100+ customers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Strong customer service orientation and relationship building abilities
• Proven problem-solving skills with systematic root cause analysis capabilities
• Experience working in cross-functional teams
• Up to 25% travel may be required
• Understanding of GMP and Computer Systems Validation (CSV) preferred
• Experience in regulated pharmaceutical environments valued
• Knowledge of data privacy requirements and asset security protocols
