Position Summary
The Staff Software development engineer, PBM Benefits Modernization is responsible for managing the technical needs across PBM Benefits space in the Pharmacy Benefits Management segment.  They have accountability for the development, operations and support for modern cloud based Java and Angular products.  This position works closely with the overall development team to set, teach, and enforce the standards, quality and technical excellence of the products they are responsible for.  This role will be expected to collaborate very closely with Business Stakeholders and Product Owners and ensure the technical delivery of the business goals. They will work closely with architecture teams, delivery management, SRE, and project management to achieve the product goals and production health.

  • Understands, designs, and implemements business user stories across the technology stack
  • Ensures security and accessibility, performance standards, and release health remain on track
  • Works with the Product Owner to prioritize and refine the product to deliver business value
  • Participates and provides feedback in architecture and design reviews, champions improvements and ensures high fidelity and consistent implementation throughout the product.
  • Supports both the business and technical understanding of the customer experience, back-end technologies/capabilities and business operations.
  • Leads Code reviews and implements best standards. Coaches peers and junior developers on improvements, best practices, and quality.


Required Qualifications

  • 8-10 years experience in IT with an emphasis on engineering development
  • 2+ years Angular or similar front end experience
  • 5 – 8 years of development experience in Java, spring boot, microservices
  • 5 + years of cloud development experience
  • 5+ years relational database experience
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools
  • Demonstrates a keen awareness of the member experience while seeking opportunities for automation and innovation to reduce dependency on high risk legacy platforms.
  • Experience in identifying and documenting business needs working interactively and effectively with technical resources.
  • Customer-first orientation and strong passion for delivering quality tools, information and content in service to consumer needs.
  • Desire to work collaboratively and experienced in driving projects to completion on time and within budget.
  • Proficient with communication across multiple levels of an organization.
     

Preferred Qualifications

·       3 + years of experience with core infrastructure development and integration

·       Experience with messaging and event platforms

·       Familiarity with Kubernetes

·       Experience with the Azure, AWS and GCP public cloud platforms.

·       Experience with microservices & webservice based API integrations

Prior experience in Pharmacy Benefits

Education
Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $260,590.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
