What you’ll be doing...

As part of the Cloud Network Operations & Engineering (CNOE) organization, you will be at the forefront of managing our next-generation 5G RAN optimization and automation platforms. Our team is responsible for the operations of a sophisticated, multi-vendor tech stack anchored by the Ericsson Intelligent Controller (EIC), which serves as the orchestration layer for our intelligent rApps.

  • In this role, you will manage the lifecycle and day-to-day operations of the EIC and its associated rApps, specifically Samsung ESM (Energy Saving Manager), which leverages Samsung Vista (DML), and Spectrum Effect’s Spectrum Net, which utilizes Qualcomm DML.

  • You will ensure these applications effectively optimize network performance and energy efficiency.

  • As an operations engineer, you will provide expert-level troubleshooting and vendor coordination to maintain high availability for these cloud-native services within our OpenShift and OpenStack environments.

What we’re looking for...

We are seeking an engineer who can operate within a complex, multi-vendor ecosystem. You should have a deep understanding of how rApps interact with the RAN and the underlying cloud infrastructure. You possess the analytical skills to dive into data pipelines and the operational discipline to lead incident resolution in a high-stakes CNOE environment.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Expert-level command-line proficiency (RHEL/CentOS) and shell scripting.

  • Hands-on experience managing workloads in Red Hat OpenShift and OpenStack.

  • Deep understanding of IP networking, including subnets, routing, and troubleshooting tools.

  • Ability to write and execute queries for database troubleshooting and data validation.

  • Experience working with and troubleshooting RESTful APIs.

  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management and technical coordination with third parties.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or Technology related field.

  • Critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.

  • Complete understanding of IP network services, server load balancing, routing, and protocols, such as HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, SMPP, SNPP, WCTP, XML, SNMP, LDAP.

  • Knowledge of MMS protocols (MM1, MM3, MM4, MM7 interfaces) and MMS call flows.

  • Knowledge of SMS and SMPP protocols and call flows.

  • Experience with applications hosted on a cloud environment..

  • Proven experience of applications instantiations in OpenStack.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills of network and application issues.

  • Experience in utilizing monitoring tools such as NetScout, SevOne etc.

  • Proven experience using Apache NiFi to move and transform CM and PM data.

  • Experience with Aether (Open Source 5G Connected Edge) or similar private 5G frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience with Prometheus for metrics collection and Grafana for dashboard creation.

  • Experience using NetPulse or similar tools for end-to-end network performance monitoring.

  • Background in Radio Access Network (RAN) operations integration.

  • Knowledge of Python or Ansible for automating repetitive infrastructure tasks.

  • AI/ML, data analytics, statistical analysis, identifying trends, actionable insights.
