Boston Dynamics is seeking a CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our growing organization. Your role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality machined parts while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and managing equipment and supplies. Additionally, you will ensure safe working conditions by keeping your workplace clean and organized as well as adhering to internal safety policies and standards. To thrive in this role, you must be able to execute written and oral instructions independently, and adapt to dynamic work environments where competing demands, delays, or disruptions can redirect workflow.

Day-to-day activities:
● Plans machining strategy by studying work orders, engineering blueprints, material
specifications plus current inventory, and machining parameters; Interprets geometric
dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
● Program, setup, and prove out parts on CNC Mills & Lathes, including coordinating first
article inspections with the quality control department.
● Verifies setup by measuring first-run parts, and sample workpieces, adhering to international
standards as noted on blueprints and work orders.
● Helps in maintaining equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements;
following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
● Documents actions by completing setup, production and quality logs.
● Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical
publications, engaging in mentorship.
● Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and
different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Required Skills:
● Minimum of 5 years of experience preferred in the setup of CNC mill-turn lathes and CNC
machining centers.
● Experience with reading and editing G code will be expected.
● Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such
instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers,
depth gauges and indicators.
● Strong understanding in blueprint reading/ geometric tolerance interpretation.
● Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories
used on various machines.
● Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to arithmetic, geometry and
algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
● Previous experience with CNC programming.
Bonus Desired Skills:
● Esprit, Hypermill or Cimatron software experience are a plus.
● Knowledge of gear manufacturing methods.
● Experience with Okuma lathes & Okuma OSP.
● Experience with DMG Celos
● Experience with Heidenhain.
● Experience with GF wire EDM machines.
The base pay range for this position is between $40 to $44 hourly . Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
