Principal UX Engineer
Role Summary:
Principal Engineers act as the go-to person and subject matter technical expert for individual products or specific technologies in their domain. In this role, strong understanding of the key business drivers and underlying technologies is key. Principal Engineers drive the definition, agreement and implementation of technology strategy while using industry standards and best practices. Principal Engineers will have extensive, successful experience owning and driving technical requirements, synthesizing technologies and capabilities into scalable products, prioritizing between features, and flair for operational excellence. This person will be responsible for consolidating and delivering a technology roadmap that aligns with the Product that focuses on innovation, optimization and/or modernization on our most critically important projects and investments. Principal Engineers are senior individual contributor roles expected to be an expert in every facet of the Software Development lifecycle, and of all the core tenants of Engineering. Autonomy, judgement, influence, and leadership skills are essential.
The successful Principal Engineer will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. They will drive the long-term technical vision through development of vision documents, definition of business and technology requirements, launch and post-launch measurement often also developing and indirectly leading the functional work of a small team of product engineers. They will also serve as a key player with cross-functional teams in their area, working to align interests, build and implement scalable solutions. They are seen as technical role models and leaders in their space and have an external presence.
