Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support global new-units and services Mechanical Load Analysis (MLA) through technical engagement with MLA Engineers and cross-functional teams including Engineering, Commercial, and Product Line.
  • Lead the communications regarding suitability conclusions to internal and external customers, providing a deep technical understanding of any limitations and their root causes.
  • Prepare and present technical material, offering recommendations to internal and external audiences.
  • Develop solutions to drive confident suitability conclusions and increase customer value.
  • Oversee MLA process changes, understanding their impact.
  • Maintain and update the MLA process work desk instructions.
  • Address technical questions from IE and certification bodies regarding the MLA method and suitability conclusions.
  • Design and implement countermeasures discovered during MLA Problem Solving Reviews to improve established KPIs.
  • Integrate and manage the impact of approved models, tools, and methods introduced into the MLA process.
  • Lead peer reviews and provide coaching and mentorship within the global team and across the business.
  • Collaborate with global internal and external customers to advance internal initiatives.
  • Drive simplification and standardization of best practices in engineering analysis, validation, and design execution.
  • Attend relevant customer discussions or workshops.
  • Contribute to and approve customer-facing technical documents as well as new and existing design practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated Loads Assessment and/or wind-related engineering and technology experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with Simulation Data Management System (SDM) or turbine system aeroelastic modeling.
  • Experience with wind conditions impacts to wind turbine mechanical loading.
  • Experience with turbulence modeling.
  • Experience with R&D and implementation into process, tools, and/or operations.
  • Ability to break down complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision-making.
  • Systematic thinker with a product-level mindset.
  • Very effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
