What You’ll Work On

The Demand Manager, Instruments & Automation is responsible for the global demand plan for Abbott Core Diagnostics Immunoassay, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology and Automation equipment. The incumbent manages the monthly instrument and automation IBP process to capture demand from each of the seven sales regions. The global demand plans are consolidated and then through an application of insights, experience and analysis, an assessment of any judgement required is made. This role works very closely with the Global Supply Chain team to ensure inventory targets are achieved while maintaining high service levels for on-time shipments.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the monthly IBP demand submission and review process for instruments and automation
  • Capture and ensure close out of all action items established at the monthly instrument and automation demand review calls
  • Comprehend the root cause of all significant changes in each sales region demand plan compared to the previous cycle and communicate to relevant stakeholders. Implement corrective actions where needed
  • Work in close collaboration with Global Supply Chain to ensure the correct balance between inventory levels and service levels is achieved
  • Establish strong communication channels with all the sales regions to understand risks in achieving the demand plan and establish contingency plans to cover any gaps
  • Manage the demand planning and allocation process for refurbished instruments
  • Complete quarterly variance analysis on forecasted vs actual shipments, gain an understanding of root causes and work the sales regions to establish corrective action plans
  • Complete and present forecasting accuracy analysis for instruments and automation for all areas and work with the sales areas to improve the forecasting process and accuracy
  • For automation, facilitate the accurate conversion of overall AAS track demand into track size, component and module level details
  • In periods of limited/low supply, oversee the allocation of instruments when demand exceeds supply
  • Own the handover of the Instrument and Automation OEM (aka Long-Range Plan) from Commercial to Supply Chain
  • Ensure any elevations relating to instruments and automation are closed out with clear actions
  • Serve as a highly effective conduit between Commercial and Supply Chain to ensure the goals and objectives of both functions are met and an appropriate balance is established where competing goals exist

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, Statistics or Business
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in Domestic and international interface, demand planning.

Preferred Qualification

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in finance and demand planning software, advanced Excel, Power Point.

The base pay for this position is

$109,300.00 – $218,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
