The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking two (2) Quantitative Equity Co-op Students/Interns for the Summer and/or Fall and/or Winter (May to August 2025, December 2025 or April 2026) to support the Public Markets team. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Public Markets group manages a portfolio of fixed income, equity, and absolute return investments utilizing both index and active management strategies. The group invests in Canada, the U.S., and internationally in both the developed and emerging markets. In addition, BCI is a leader in responsible investing actively integrating environmental, social and governance factors (ESG) into our investment analysis and decision making. The Quantitative Equity team manages over $6 billion in Global and Global ESG mandates.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Work under the supervision of members of the Quantitative Equity team on various projects 

  • Use programming (primarily Python and SQL) to enhance the proprietary systems and tools built and managed by the team 

  • Conduct research and data analysis to enhance the quantitative investment strategies managed by the team 

  • Participate in regular team research meetings and discuss new ideas and projects

Required Skills

  • Students currently enrolled in a graduate-level or postgraduate program in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or other analytical discipline 

  • Strong programming skills, with experience in Python and SQL preferred 

  • Interest in pursuing a career in the investment field, gaining quantitative investment experience, and exploring what the industry has to offer 

  • Passion for numbers, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Experience with data analysis and machine learning techniques is a plus. 

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely 

  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining excellent product quality and attention to detail 

  • Team player who has the drive to continue learning, excel, and grow in a team-oriented and dynamic environment 

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to the highest ethical standards

  • Competitive pay: Front Office:  $2,665.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary

  • Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Vancouver

  • Travel: if coming to Vancouver for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location

  • This co-op/internship will need to be completed in person at our Vancouver office with the option to work one day per week from home. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
