About the role & team
The German Verticals team manages the B2C business of eBay Germany (ebay.de). We are organized by industries like Consumer Electronics, Home & Garden, Fashion, and Motors. Our focus is on driving eBay’s growth by delivering a flawless user experience and supporting seller success.
The Senior Category Manager will oversee and grow one or several categories within the Motors Vertical team. This role involves defining strategy, managing regular operations such as insights, reporting, and trading, maintaining relationships with assigned brands and retailers, and working closely with the Product Management department to improve the categories’ user experience. The Senior Category Manager will also direct larger projects that span multiple functions and categories.
Be part of the global eBay Motors team and drive key Motors projects in cooperation with multi-national partners and collaborators
Provide ongoing inventory/category management including coordination, delivery of category insights, and marketing of inventory
Analyze inventory insights, product trends, market data, industry dynamics, customer shopping trends, and the competitive landscape to assess growth opportunities and product improvements
Manage business performance based on defined benchmarks
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to provide insights and recommendations
Build and strengthen relationships with sellers and manufacturers to identify and implement scaling opportunities
Identify and source relevant and market-leading inventory to support execution of strategy
Collaborate with other teams (marketing, customer service, product management) in planning and accomplishing campaigns and initiatives
Develop and communicate project results and success stories within the organization
Strong experience in category management, business development, or project management, preferably in Automotive or Parts & Accessories
Proven experience negotiating ranges & promotions with suppliers
Industry experience in consumer goods, retail, e-commerce, or consumer tech
Ability to drive projects to success with a high degree of ownership and dedication
Excellent analytical skills
Strong communication and presentation skills in German and English (both proficient)
Ability to build rapport with collaborators at all levels
Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel, with Tableau and SQL preferred
Great teammate with strong interpersonal skills
General proficiency with job-related tools and systems
