About the Role

DePaul House (DPH) provides ongoing specialist treatment and support to meet the identified needs of clients who have significant Substance use issues and related comorbities and require a withdrawal service. This is a state-wide service. DPH practises a Recovery orientated approach using the Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice, the position through day to day care works and other activities will actively contribute to the development and implementation of this model. 

  • Coordinate and manage the shift to ensure the provision of high quality consumer-focused care
  • Monitor physical withdrawal and respond with protocol medication
  • Provide leadership, act as a role model to staff and coordinate the allocation of resources on the shift to meet the needs of consumers
  • Work within the Strengths Model of Recovery Orientated Practice
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including biopsychosocial assessment and formulate and implement treatment plans; Support intake
  • Deliver & Coordinate group based programs and activities within the unit
  • Develop responsive and accessible services and continuity of care through effective links and liaison with other relevant services
  • There will be a requirement to work a night shift roster.

Classifications for this position will range from YY1 - YY2 ($107,962 per annum)

Your Contribution

  • Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in General Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in Division 1 or 3
  • Current practicing certificate  (AHPRA registration)
  • Post registration qualification in AOD and or MH (or relevant overseas qualifications)
  • Current national criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About Depaul House

Depaul House (DPH) is a 12 bed Community Residential Alcohol and Drug withdrawal unit, based in Fitzroy , Melbourne. The unit provides a medically managed detoxification, from a variety of substances including THC, Alcohol, methampethamine etc. Clients can stay up to 10 days. Depaul House is part of St Vincent’s Department of Addiction Medicine. The Department of Addiction Medicine (DoAM), St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne strives to be a key centre for the community in relation to alcohol and drugs - strong and relevant in response, working in a number of domains including clinical practice, research that is directly translatable, education and training (at undergraduate, postgraduate and community levels) and advocacy and policy at both institutional level and more broadly.
