About the Role
The Consultant Psychiatrist is accountable for the delivery of high quality clinical services to the consumers of SVMH, contingent on place of cover clinical deployment within the continuum of care at SVMH, and provides clinical leadership in partnership with the Team Manager(s), and under the direction of the Director Acute Psychiatry, Director Community Psychiatry, Director Clinical Services, and the relevant Group Operations Manager. The Consultant Psychiatrist will contribute to service evaluation and research and will display a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in psychiatry.
The area of clinical deployment and cover within the continuum of care at SVMH will be recommended in discussion with the relevant Director and Group Operations Manager, and determined by the Director of Clinical Services and General Manager Mental Health.
Classifications for this position will range from classification range HN18 – HN34.

St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. The adult mental health service components are: The Yarra Boroondara Primary Mental Health Service (PMHS), the Footbridge Community Care Unit (CCU), the 44 bed Acute Inconsumer Service (AIS) located on the St. Vincent’s Hospital site, and two community mental health services (CMHS) at Hawthorn and East Melbourne (Clarendon CMHS). Community mental health services comprise the Triage and Crisis assessment and Treatment (CAT) service, Primary Intervention Clinical Team (PICT), Continuing Care (CCT), Mobile Support and Treatment (MST) and Homeless Outreach (CHOPS) services. NEXUS Dual Diagnosis Service, the Body Image and Eating Disorders Assessment and Treatment Service (BETRS) are regional services. Statewide services are the Victorian Dual Disability Service, the Victorian Transcultural Psychiatry Unit and Dual Diagnosis Education and Training Unit. The AIS includes 5 beds designated as the Koori State-wide Inconsumer Service and linked to the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service.
