About This Opportunity

The University of Queensland (UQ) is seeking a Senior Manager, Research Communication to build UQ’s national and international reputation and engagement with industry, government and prospective research partners.

In this newly established role, you will lead a small team and be responsible for driving cross-University collaboration to align marketing and communication efforts in priority business development sectors.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and implement an integrated marketing and communication plan to enhance UQ’s reputation across priority research and industry sectors.

  • Drive engagement and consideration among external national and international stakeholders, primarily industry, government and prospective research partners, through sector-specific implementation plans that coordinate whole-of-UQ efforts.

  • Lead collaboration across faculty and institute marketing and communication teams to ensure alignment of local plans and activities with UQ’s priority business development priorities.

About Marketing and Communication (M&C)

M&C provides leadership and expertise in strategic marketing, communication, and branding to enhance domestic and global awareness and support for the university. A multi-disciplinary team of approximately 100 professionals work alongside teams in faculties, research institutes and other central portfolios to enhance the University’s reputation and brand.

M&C has responsibilities across the span of University campuses and operations, nationally and internationally, with staff skilled in marketing, communication, customer experience, media, corporate affairs, web development and design. About You

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in developing and implementing integrated marketing and communication plans that engage with industry, business and government stakeholders to drive measurable business outcomes.

  • A track record in positioning organisations to support business development goals.

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams to achieve alignment of planning and implementation.

  • Strong planning and project management abilities, adept at juggling multiple priorities and delivering results in a complex organisational environment.

  • Experience in research-related communication/promotion is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
