Job Description:
Position is required to implement veterinary services extension activities in the field by working closing with the milk procurement partners, milk producers & bulk cooler facilitators with a key focus on sourcing of quality, clean, safe and complaint milk (Contaminant free). Develop sustainable milk base to meet SDDPL expectation of milk quality & quantity. Drive milk quality improvement projects ensuring milk sourced is compliant to SDDPL & Indian regulatory norms. Disseminate knowledge of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, provide viable technical support to develop, lead, propagate, and implement Animal Welfare Program, Ethno Veterinary Medicine Practices, Mastitis Control Program, Field Trainings, Women Empowerment, Cattle Feed & Premix sale, and co-ordination of all applicable & related programs.
What you’ll do:
- The role involves developing technical liaison externally and internally with related departments for dairy-development approach, to be based on backward integration with traceability by monitoring feeding, breeding, animal husbandry practices and potential adulterants/contaminants in sourced milk.
- Responsible for veterinary extension activities in the field with a key focus on sourcing of complaint milk by coordinating with team members.
- Actively manage and improve supply base technical capabilities, develop and execute risk management programs and drives for continuous improvements as well as for sustainable good quality milk sourcing and milk production.
- Promote, support and implement the veterinary extension activities to source antibiotic & aflatoxin M1 complaint milk. Create awareness about importance of clean and safe milk, deleterious effects of drug residues & other contaminants on human/animal health. Develop and implement milk quality improvement plans to mitigate risks of milk contaminants.
- Promote, manage and support to achieve the sale of cattle feed and premix in order to ensure complaint milk from associated producers.
- Promote, support and implement the animal welfare program, preventive animal health care, mastitis control program and Ethno Veterinary Medicine practices.
- Support development and execution of dairy development plans with the suppliers/farmers ensuring sustainable supply of milk quality levels expected by SDDPL.
- Train and educate milk producers, field and related staff on various training modules. Ensure dissemination of knowledge on all aspects of animal husbandry, dairy farming and clean milk production practices to the producers through different means of extension like village meetings, pamphlets, posters, bulletins, handouts, booklets etc.
- Promote and implement women empowerment program.
- Implement and monitor sustainability projects such as Biogas etc. to reduce carbon footprints.
- Support, guide and monitor the activities of field and associated staff members.
- Prepare and submit applicable activity reports, support, guide & work on scope of improvement in field data management system.
- Accomplish any other tasks or responsibilities given by the management to meet the organizational goals.
What you need to succeed:
- B.V.Sc. & A.H./ M.V.Sc. (Gynecology & Obstetrics/Veterinary Public Health/Any other)
- 3-5 Years of experience in Dairy Industry.
