We are looking for an experienced, crypto-native researcher who is deeply engaged in the blockchain ecosystem and has a strong technical and analytical skill set. The ideal candidate should be comfortable producing in-depth research on Layer-1 and Layer-2 protocols, DeFi protocols, governance systems, and tokenomics, while also contributing to exchange market reports and social media content. This role requires strong writing and communication skills, proficiency in SQL and Python, and the ability to derive insights from on-chain data, centralised exchange (CEX) data, and broader market trends.

Role & Responsibilities

Protocol Research Reports

• Conduct in-depth research on Layer-1 and Layer-2 networks, covering on-chain activity, tokenomics, governance, and ecosystem growth.

• Analyse protocol adoption trends, integrating insights from blockchain data, CEX trading activity, and ecosystem development.

• Produce regular ecosystem updates that highlight key drivers of growth, sectoral trends, and market impact.

• Engage directly with developers, governance participants, and protocol teams to incorporate primary insights into research.

Exchange and Market Research

• Support Exchange Review and Benchmark reports, tracking liquidity, trading volumes, and CEX market structure using our in-house dataset.

• Utilise Google BigQuery, SQL, and Python to query datasets and build analytical tools to monitor market trends.

• Provide insights into stablecoins, token trading behaviour, and CEX vs. DEX market activity, linking on-chain trends to market structure shifts.

Content and Social Media Contributions

• Write concise, high-quality market insights for CoinDesk’s social media, newsletters, and research reports.

• Share original analysis on crypto markets, protocol updates, and governance trends, engaging with the broader community.

• Confidently speak about and defend research findings, whether through written reports, interviews, or social channels.

 

Qualifications & Experience

• Crypto-native background with hands-on experience using and contributing to blockchain projects (e.g., staking, governance participation, DeFi, NFT ecosystems).

• Deep understanding of Layer-1 and Layer-2 architectures, rollups, and governance mechanisms.

• Gifted writer with the ability to produce both long-form research and concise market insights.

• Proficiency with Google BigQuery, SQL, and Python to build tools, query blockchain and CEX datasets, and extract insights.

• Familiarity with on-chain data tools (e.g., Dune, Glassnode, Nansen) and trading data sources (e.g., CCData, CoinGecko).

• Comfortable presenting and discussing research findings in a public or media-facing setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong background in data analytics, financial markets, or crypto investment research.

• Prior experience in institutional-grade research, investment firms, or blockchain analytics companies.

• Experience building dashboards, APIs, or market monitoring tools for crypto assets.

• Existing presence in crypto media, governance forums, or research networks is a plus.
