We are seeking a Fixed Income and FX trader to join the Manulife London Trading team. The successful candidate will execute across multiple asset classes and add value to Investment teams globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute trades of all levels of liquidity, complexity and size across Fixed Income and FX in a timely and accurate manner, whilst adhering to Best Execution Principles.

  • Utilise knowledge of market structure and dynamics to advise on execution strategy and trading levels.

  • Provide regular colour on sentiment, news and market conditions to Analysts and Portfolio Managers.

  • Generate and distribute new trade ideas to Analysts and Portfolio Managers for investment consideration.

  • Screen market offerings and, if appropriate, determine dealer inventories and pricing.

  • Maintain and enhance existing Broker/Client relationships and develop new relationships where appropriate with sales and trading desks to access optimal liquidity across multiple asset classes.

  • Communicate and collaborate with other regions of the Global Trading team.

  • Stay up to date of regulatory changes affecting Fixed Income and FX trading.

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above

  • Minimum of 3 years direct experience in trading cash and derivative products across Credit, Rates and FX, utilising protocols including voice and electronic automation

  • Comprehensive knowledge of fixed income securities, investment analysis, market practice and trading conventions. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with Brokers, Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts and team members.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • Ability to recognize and prioritise competing demands to satisfy business needs.

  • Ability to make solid decisions under pressure and to respond quickly to news and change.

  • Demonstrated team player, ideally as part of a global organisation.

  • Legal authorization to work in the UK.
