The Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a skilled and motivated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join the Spectrum of Care Clinic team. This role supports a high-quality veterinary teaching and clinical environment, with a strong focus on patient care, collaboration, and clinical excellence. 

The Registered Veterinary Technician assists veterinarians and clinical team members in delivering comprehensive patient care across wellness, dentistry, surgery, and anesthesia services. This position also plays a significant role in the clinical education of professional veterinary medicine students across all four years of the curriculum, supporting hands-on learning and fostering the development of clinical skills in a teaching-focused environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians with technical procedures, including wellness care, dentistry, surgery, and anesthesia.
  • Support clinicians and care teams in patient intake, treatment, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Perform patient assessments, obtain vital signs, and monitor hospitalized patients for changes in condition.
  • Provide anesthesia support and operate radiologic and dental imaging equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of biological parameters and interpret diagnostic values accurately.
  • Triage patients and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records using an electronic medical record system.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, faculty, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Perform laboratory procedures using standard equipment and protocols.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including end-of-shift duties (e.g., cleaning, laundry, waste disposal)     

Teaching & Student Engagement:

Support the clinical training of veterinary students across all four years of the professional DVM program 

  • Provide instruction, guidance, and demonstration of technical skills in real-time clinical settings.
  • Supervise students during patient care activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and best practices,
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with faculty to reinforce learning objectives and clinical competencies.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and compassionate patient care.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and train new employees and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance professional skills.

Hiring Range: $23.99 - $29.95

Additional Information:

Minimum Requirements:

Graduate of accredited program within clinical discipline; advanced degree may be desirable. Requires clinical license or certification. Registered Veterinary Technician through The Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board. Must pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Lifting 40-50 pounds; Long periods of standing and/or sitting or kneeling on the floor. Extensive typing and computer work. Risks involve exposure to animal dander, rabies, other zoonotic diseases, parasiticides, animal inflicted injuries, anesthetic gases, chemotherapy, gamma ray equipment, irritant chemicals.
