● Ensure compliance to both internal and external regulations to include (OSHA, EPA, DOT, DHS,
FDA and State requirements)
● Take ownership of improving safety and compliance at each location within the assigned area
o Monitor Intelex to ensure appropriate progress
▪ Ensure reports (unsafe delivery, good catch) are closed in timely manner
▪ Monitor and support local manager in ensuring all corrective actions are closed
in timely manner
o Coach local manager on key topics
o Develop annual schedule for area to achieve objectives
o Target 3 -4 visits per year, per facility in assigned area to provide improve repetitiveness
of message
o Assist location in compliance activities where possible (forklift training, conduct safety
meetings, conduct inspection while on site, etc)
o Spot check compliance activity during every location visit (DOT paperwork process,
forklift training, haz-com training, OSHA logs, Postings: expiration dates)
o Maintain regular communication with all locations in area as well as AVP/DMs as
requested/necessary
● Conduct specific training at each location and cover each associate as the training is applicable
● Conduct assigned audits, primarily: SMS, Medical, Flam Gas, DOT, Food, IMS, PSM/RMP, LPG
visual inspection, Hydro-testing, requalification
● Support specific division initiatives
o Promote critical keys to operating safety
▪ Use of GOAL/Cones or don’t back up
▪ Follow Smith Keys
▪ Wear proper PPE at all times, including metatarsal gloves when delivering LPG
cylinders to storage racks; including face shield when filling liquid, cryogenic
gloves when filling cryogenics, safety glasses with side shields
▪ Use 3 point stance when entering/exiting cab or forklift
▪ Use Cylinder Carts
▪ Use Proper lifting techniques
▪ Use unsafe delivery reporting process, use good catch reporting process
Coaching
● Corrective action follow up, completion and closure
● Conduct physical walkthroughs during all visits and coach location manager on issues found. Pay
particular attention to:
o Cylinder securement: Properly nested, chained or strapped on pallets
o Use of cylinder carts. Cylinder cars available to move cylinders in branch/plant. Carts on
trucks for both liquids and high pressure.
o Cylinder segregation (proper storage of flammables, separate flammables and oxidizers,
toxics with secondary security, inventory for nitrous oxide or toxic gases
o Regulatory thresholds (especially for toxic and flammable gases) to include Tier 2, DHS,
PSM/RMP and verify all are consistently reported
● Conduct monthly safety meetings at facilities
● Assist facility in completion of safety and regulatory requirement
o Inspections
o Risk Assessments
o Safety meetings
o Safety Committee meetings
o Forklift training
● Provide guidance/support for all area facilities as issues arise
