As a Senior Software Engineer, Core Network Systems, you will be responsible for developing and implementing software solutions that enhance the functionality and efficiency of our network infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our network systems are robust, scalable, and secure, supporting the growth and operational excellence of Cruise’s production environment.
 

Key Responsibilities:
 

Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain software applications and tools that automate and optimize network design, implementation, operations, monitoring, and management.

Cloud Systems: Utilize your understanding of modern cloud systems and designs to integrate and optimize cloud-based network services and solutions.

DevOps Integration: Work with DevOps principles to automate network deployments, streamline operations, and support continuous integration and delivery pipelines.

Network Reliability and Observability: Apply your knowledge of IP networking hardware, protocols, and designs to drive network reliability and enhance observability of Cruise’s network infrastructure.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network issues, leveraging your understanding of both software and networking principles to maintain high availability and performance.

Collaboration: Partner with other engineering teams to integrate network services with broader platform initiatives, ensuring alignment and cohesion across the organization.

Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network designs, software tools, and processes to support operational excellence and knowledge sharing.

Key Skills and Competencies:
 

Software Development: Proficiency in software development, with strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or similar.

DevOps Fundamentals: Firm understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code.

Cloud Systems: Solid knowledge of modern cloud systems and designs, with experience in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

IP Networking: Intermediate knowledge of IP networking hardware, protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS), and designs, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a production environment.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network and software issues.

Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across different teams and disciplines.

The salary range for this position is $142,800 - $210,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
