PharmaCann, Inc. owns and operates best-in-class production facilities and retail dispensaries for cannabis-based products. We currently operate in the States of Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado and Michigan as a medical and/or adult use cannabis provider to patients and customers. The Budtender is responsible for creating a world-class customer experience for all customers. The Budtender will promote a positive, customer service-oriented, and compliant work environment. This position is accountable for executing initiatives that achieve all hospitality and operational goals at Verilife/LivWell retail locations.

The Budtender is responsible for compliance with all policies, Standard Operating Procedures, state and local regulations and all other operational objectives of the business, ensuring the safety and security of PharmaCann/Verilife patients, customers, employees, vendors and facilities, as well as receiving orders, inventory, executing visual standards and presentation needs to customer/patient requirements, product performance, along with sales and marketing objectives.

The Budtender must be passionate about their role and have a strong willingness to help people become educated about cannabis. Pay for this role starts at $17.50/hour

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed personal sales volume and KPI goals

  • Drive repeat business through strong local networking and customer data capture, patient confidence inspiration, and building of patient loyalty 
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on products and industry knowledge, including cannabis laws and regulation 
  • Execute high customer experience standards, to include a world-class culture and industry-leading customer engagement through strong sales techniques and product knowledge 
  • Maintain the store in a clean, organized and safe manner with special attention paid to merchandising standards 
  • Accountable for accurately utilizing the Verilife/LivWell Point of Sale system, including state systems and new customer files 
  • Execute customer transactions with high attention to detail and ensure accuracy in register transactions 
  • Adheres to strict check-in procedures per state regulations 
  • Deliver results and strategic direction by ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly 
  • Execute and follow up on operational standards and policies and procedures 
  • Prepare and package orders for customers, merchandising and restocking 
  • Receive, count, and document inventory deliveries and accurately file manifests after delivery
  • Perform and assist with audits and inventory control functions
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and security of all associates, patients, customers, and vendors while on-premises and all operational policies are upheld within retail stores 
  • Vigilantly performs all entry/exit control protocols 
  • Monitors electronic surveillance and security alarm systems 
  • Review and investigate POS analytical reports 
  • Must be able to accommodate flexible scheduling expectations including weekend, evening, and holiday schedules
  • Dependent upon the state and/or location, this position may be required to hold a current driver’s license and maintain a good driving record

Competencies and Qualifications 

  • Minimum 21 years of age (or as required by state regulations) 
  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred and/or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience 
  • Minimum 2 years’ retail experience with customer service in a fast-paced retail environment 
  • Strong analytical skills to assess data, facts and figures 
  • Strong attention to detail and able to record information accurately 
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and resolve in a calm, professional and courteous manner 
  • Strong computer-based skills
  • Intermediate-level math skills 
  • Proven expertise and experience to accurately manage a POS system 
  • Excellent Time Management and sense of urgency 
  • Business-minded personality 
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to greet and manage patient/customer or employee interactions
  • Steady employment history 
  • Pass a comprehensive background check that includes a criminal history, and obtain and maintain state agent requirements 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record background check (state specific) 
  • Communicates well with employees, customers and patients
  • A positive attitude, highly motivated and ethical individual 
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including ability to escalate employee, patient or customer issues properly or to the proper personnel/management
  • Regular and on time attendance 
  • Must be able to accommodate flexible scheduling expectations including weekend, evening and holiday schedules 
  • Bilingual is a plus for specific locations 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

This position operates in a professional store environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This position requires long work hours, weekends, nights, overtime as needed, holidays and open work availability. In addition, this position may require minimal travel. This position may be required to work outdoors and/or during inclement weather. While performing the duties of this job, this position is regularly required to visually observe, speak and listen. In addition, this position is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, walk constantly, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
