UX Design Director

Provides enterprise‑level leadership for user experience strategy, design quality, and research‑driven decision‑making across multiple digital products, programs, or business areas. This role sets long‑term UX vision, leads design teams and design leaders, and drives alignment with organizational strategy. Partners with executive stakeholders to ensure digital experiences are intuitive, cohesive, accessible, and grounded in user insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish long‑term UX strategy and experience vision across products, platforms, and business domains.
  • Lead and develop UX managers, design leads, and research leads, ensuring strong leadership capability throughout the organization.
  • Oversee large‑scale design initiatives and ensure design excellence, consistency, and accessibility across all digital touchpoints.
  • Shape product strategy in partnership with senior engineering, product, and business leadership, ensuring user‑centered perspectives guide major decisions.
  • Drive investment in UX research, design systems, and tools that scale experience quality across the enterprise.
  • Build and mature organizational UX frameworks, operating models, and governance processes.
  • Provide thought leadership on user research insights, design direction, and future‑state experience opportunities.
  • Champion design metrics, analytics, and measurement frameworks to evaluate experience quality and inform strategic improvements.
  • Represent UX at executive‑level meetings, driving advocacy for user needs and design principles.
  • Ensure design leaders and teams maintain strong partnership behaviors, effective communication, and alignment on priorities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, experimentation, and ethical design practice across the UX organization.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to guide long‑term UX roadmap decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design, Human–Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Extensive experience leading UX strategy and design work across complex, multi‑platform digital ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing leaders within UX design and research disciplines.
  • Strong portfolio or case studies illustrating strategic design leadership, innovation, and measurable impact.
  • Deep experience with modern design systems, enterprise‑scale UX operations, and user research methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate vision to executive audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders across engineering, product, and business functions.
  • Experience building and evolving UX organizational structure, processes, and long‑term design capabilities.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $113,000 - $170,000

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
