Job Description:

Position Summary:

We are seeking a experienced and innovative Engineer to join our Innovation team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and a proven track record of leading projects, IP creation, project management and innovating new-to-world technologies. This role requires an understanding of mechanical design principles, fluid mechanics along with the ability to drive innovation and excellence in new technology development. As a key contributor in our innovation department, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams in a competitive work environment. Pentair provides excellent opportunity to get insights into overall product development right from scratch doing Hand calculations & CAD to prototyping & testing. The person selected for this position will be responsible for design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation and process improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected engineer will:

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of new-to-world technologies and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Electronics, Firmware, chemical, IOT etc.) to ensure seamless integration of innovative solutions within the time frame.
  • Perform detailed mechanical analysis and simulations using state-of-the-art engineering tools to evaluate the feasibility and performance of new designs.
  • Develop and execute testing protocols to validate new designs and ensure they meet functional, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Explore and apply cutting-edge materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies to improve design efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities to inform and inspire innovation.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate design concepts, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations throughout the design and development process.
  • Provide technical leadership within the team.
  • Creation of intellectual property (IP), including patents and proprietary technologies.
  • Collaborate with external partners and vendors for development of products and technologies to be used in Pentair

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience of min 6 years with proven experience in system design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing processes, and laboratory testing.
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) and familiar with interpretation of simulations.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Ability to influence Standardized approach or challenge status quo
  • Strong communication, presentation and collaboration skills
  • Expertise in MS Excel will have an added advantage (Data Analysis)
  • Quickly learn and grasp technologies related to water treatment

Travel

This position will require <10% domestic and/or international travel.
